Fogarty are proud to sponsor 13 year old Harley Maddison, who recently broke a 21 year old Boston swimming club record! Harley beat Melanie Marshall’s record in 100m butterfly at the county championships, a record which had been held since 1991. Melanie competed in the Olympics and commonwealth games.
13-year-old Harley has been swimming for Boston Amateur Swimming Club for 5 years. Training for around 10 hours a week, including an hour at the gym, Harley has earned her place in the top squad. She also competes in many competitions throughout the year all over the country.
Currently, Harley is county champion in 200 Butterfly and 200 Breast stroke and has gained 10 Midland qualifying times. This means that she will compete in all of these events at Ponds Forge 50 metre pool in Sheffield at the end of April against all other competitors her age from the Midlands area. Harley hopes to get to finals and maybe get some medals.
She has qualified for 100 and 200 Butterfly in the Scottish national age group competition in Glasgow. This is a fantastic achievement for Harley as she had to get faster qualifying times than the Scottish swimmers to be able to compete.
This year, Harley is hoping to compete in the Nationals, which are held in July/August. We would like to wish her the best of luck from every here at Fogarty!
