On the weekend from the 12th to the 15th of February, Nesta Baxter of Evolution Martial Arts in Boston fought at the Karlovac European Cup in Croatia. Nesta, who fights for WAKO Team GB, had a brilliant weekend, coming home with 2 x gold, a silver and a bronze from a high-quality international competition.
After arriving in Croatia on Friday, Nesta was weighed in and had a medical check before preparing herself for the first category of the weekend, which was the Girls Grand Champion points fighting. At 8pm, the grand champion fighting commenced.
Nesta fought an Italian fighter in the final of the grand champion, the fight was very close and unfortunately Nesta just missed out on the top spot, but claimed a silver medal in the grand champion. ?
On Saturday, it was the day of points fighting. Nesta fought in the <55kg girls older cadet (13-15yrs) point fighting. After fighting competitors from countries such as France, Italy and Croatia, Nesta had a tough semi-final against a Hungarian fighter and came away with a bronze medal.
On Sunday, it was the day of continuous kickboxing. Nesta fought in the <55kg older cadet (13-15yrs) continuous and <55kg junior (16-18yrs) continuous categories. Nesta fought brilliantly in these categories, and after fighting athletes from countries such as Slovakia, Austria, Croatia, Italy and Poland, Nesta won both of her categories showing some outstanding performances!
It was a brilliant weekend for Nesta, who now looks onto her next international competition which is in Dublin, Ireland, at the Irish Open 2016.
